Coming to Resonance?
The below information should give you everything you need for an amazing festival experience
Planning Your Trip

Where is the festival?

Resonance Festival is at 320 Wilson Road, South Head, Auckland 0840 — about a 1.5 hour drive from Auckland CBD. The last town you’ll pass through before arriving is Parakai, which is also the final spot for fuel, food, or any last-minute supplies.

How do I get there?

-
Driving to the festival: Wilson Road is gravel. Please limit your speed to 40KPH, stay to the left, minimise noise, and don’t stop to look at animals — Our neighbours are awesome and deserve to be respected and considered.
-
Carpooling is encouraged to help decrease fuel costs and limit the impact on the environment.
-
Follow all signage and crew instructions for smooth traffic flow and safety.
-
Once on site, the speed limit is strictly 15KPH.

Some vendors accept EFTPOS and bank transfer but we recommend bringing cash.

Will there be phone reception or Wi-Fi?

There is no reception on-site. There is no festival Wi-Fi, unless in an absolute emergency so plan accordingly and set a meeting point with friends/family in case you get separated, and let your mum know you’ll be offline for a few days!
Camping & Staying on Site
What are the camping options?

-
All tickets include camping. There are general camping and family camping areas.
-
Tents, caravans, shade structures, and vehicles must be positioned considerately to conserve space.
-
If you bring a caravan, your towing vehicle may need to be moved to designated parking to free up camping space.
-
Make sure guy lines are visible at night, and structures are tied down securely. We recommend screw-in tent pegs and ratchet straps for gazebos. The wind can be strong as we are right next to the wild west coast of Auckland!

Can I come and go from the site?

-
Vehicles must park in designated areas. No driving on-site after parking.
-
If you need to leave early, park and camp accordingly as you may get blocked in by other vehicles/campers.

What about accessibility?

The terrain is mostly flat but can be uneven, with sand, grass, and paddocks. If you have accessibility needs, please let the gate crew know and we will park you in our Easy Access Camp.

Toilets & Showers?

-
There are 6 flushing toilets in the main festival area, and long drop style toilets dotted around the festival site.
-
Please ensure all non-flushable items are put into bins provided in the toilets, and keep the space tidy.
-
There are hot, gas powered showers for everyone. Please keep showers to a minimum (5 minutes maximum) and note that our busy and hardworking crew may at times jump to the front of the queue. Please respect that and keep the showers tidy and clean.
Food, Waste & Supplies
What about food and drinks?

-
You’re welcome to bring your own food or support our festival vendors. The food stalls are a valued part of the Resonance community. We encourage you to save a little of your budget to enjoy what they’re offering.
-
Resonance is an alcohol free event. There are no bars on site. We know that people will still bring their own, however we are committed to creating safer and more conscious spaces. So we ask that you, the festival goer, respect the space that we are wanting to create. Any visible alcohol will be confiscated.
-
Please keep food stored securely at night — animals may eat human food or rubbish and get sick. Remember to manage your waste; there are no bins on-site. Avocado skins and pits are toxic to deer. The deer are cheeky and will eat almost anything - including plastic so please keep your site clean and clear at all times!

Is there drinking water on site?

Yes, there are water stations across the site, but we recommend bringing 10 L with you. Don’t forget a reusable bottle for refills.

How does waste work at the festival?

-
Resonance is a zero-waste event, which means there are no bins on site. Everything you bring in, needs to leave with you. The goal is to minimise waste and encourage everyone to think consciously about what they bring to the festival.
-
Vendors will not provide single-use plastics, plates, or cups, so please come prepared with your own reusable items.
-
Food scraps and compostable waste must be managed by attendees — there is no festival composting system.
-
Keep scraps in a sealed container and do not leave them on the land.

What do I need to bring to manage my waste?

Think of it like camping off-grid. You’ll need to bring:

-
Plates, cups, and cutlery.
-
Rubbish bags for your campsite.
-
A plan for taking your waste home.

It’s also helpful to remove unnecessary packaging before arriving, and to rinse and separate recyclables where possible. There will be wash stations available for cleaning your dishes during the festival.

Can I bring glass bottles or containers?

-
Broken glass is hazardous for bare feet, wildlife, and the land, so no glass is allowed on site.
-
Any glass found will be confiscated and you can collect this upon your departure.
Families & Community
Are there facilities for families and children?

-
Yes. Resonance is a family-friendly festival. Family camping is available for those who prefer a quieter space to rest.
-
We also have a Tamariki Space with activities and entertainment designed especially for children.
-
Children must be supervised by their caregivers at all times, and must be away from stage areas by 9 pm. Stage areas after 9pm are R18.
-
Please DO NOT bring radios for children / families to communicate with. They interfere with festival communications and children MUST be with their parents/guardians at all times.

Can I bring pets?

No. This is a working deer farm with free-roaming deer, turkeys, and chickens. Pets are not allowed for their safety and the safety of the farm animals.
Festival Culture
Can I bring a personal sound system or play music at my campsite?

-
You’re welcome to enjoy music around your campsite, but large sound systems and renegade campsite parties aren’t permitted.
-
Resonance places a lot of care into the festival stages and sound systems. Please respect the music, artists, engineers, and bass culture by keeping amplified music centred around the festival stages.
-
We also ask everyone to be mindful of noise in camping areas, especially near family camping and late at night.

How do I handle consent and personal boundaries?

-
Respect everyone’s boundaries — if someone declines interaction or assistance, honour that immediately.
-
Consent is freely given, enthusiastic, and ongoing.
-
Listen to both words and body language. If you’re unsure, ask, step back, or seek support from Rangers or crew.

Why is consent culture important here?

Consent culture makes the festival safer, more fun, and more expressive. It’s about giving people the space to participate on their own terms, whether that’s dancing, hugging, or being part of art and workshops.
Respect, clear communication, and safe bystander intervention help everyone enjoy the festival fully.

What kind of behaviour is expected at Resonance?

-
Resonance is a family-friendly, community-focused festival, and we ask all attendees to act with respect, care, and accountability — for themselves, others, and the environment.
-
This includes being mindful of substance use. We deeply encourage everyone to step back, assess their own limits, and take responsibility for their actions. Misuse, excessive consumption, or behaviour that harms yourself, others, or the festival environment is not acceptable, and we will be monitoring our carefully curated space for behaviour which is out of line.
-
We aim to create a safe, inclusive, and intentional experience for all — a space for connection, music, art, and play where everyone can feel supported and respected.

How can I contribute to the festival community?

-
Engage positively, respect consent and boundaries, and explore the festival — see the Activities & Info section for more on how to get the most out of your experience.
-
Be open to new experiences and ideas — take what resonates with you and leave behind what doesn’t.
-
Look out for each other and step in to help only if it feels safe and comfortable for you; if not, alert the crew or PsyCare for support. We also encourage the “See something, say something” approach to keeping our community safe and connected.
Land & Environment
How do I respect the land?

-
Resonance takes place on a working farm, so please tread carefully, leave no trace, and minimise your impact on the property.
-
Stick to existing paths wherever possible.
-
Collect any MOOP (Matter Out Of Place) you see to help protect both the animals and the land.
-
Caring for the site ensures it remains safe and enjoyable for everyone during the festival.

Are there any foods I should be careful with around the animals?

-
Avocado Pits & Skins: Contain high levels of persin.
-
Citrus Fruits: Can cause digestive issues, serious illness, or act as a repellent.
-
Bread & processed snacks: Can harm gut microbes and cause serious illness.
-
Mouldy or Rotten Food: Toxic and can cause disease.

Keep all food scraps in a sealed container, and please take them with you when you leave.

How do I stay safe around the animals?

-
Keep a safe distance from all roaming animals.
-
Never approach baby deer or interfere with mothers.
-
If you notice any hazards or MOOP that could affect animals, remove it only if safe, or alert a crew member.

Are fires allowed?

-
No open fires, wood/charcoal BBQs, kerosene cookers, or fireworks are permitted.
-
Gas cookers are allowed only on tables and must never be left unattended.
-
Fire props can only be used in the designated fire circle.
Health & Safety
What if I need medical help?

First Aid and PsyCare (Care Nest) services are available on-site. If you or someone else requires assistance, go directly to the first aid station or alert a crew member immediately.

What should I do in an emergency?

-
Follow all crew instructions and go to the designated muster points.
-
If separated from friends or family, meet at your pre-arranged meeting point.

What about security?

-
Security (Guardian) team members wear hi-vis vests and are trained to keep you safe — they’re approachable and happy to help.
-
If you need security assistance, locate the nearest crew member or visit the central information point.

What if someone gets lost?

For lost people or children, go directly to the central information point. Staff have procedures in place to help reunite you safely.

What should I keep in mind for my own safety?

-
Watch your step — terrain can be uneven, particularly in camping and paddock areas.
-
Look out for yourself and others; only intervene if it’s safe, otherwise alert crew or PsyCare.
-
Keep personal belongings and valuables secure.

What about general conduct for safety?

-
Respect the site, animals, and other attendees to maintain a safe environment.
-
Zero tolerance for unsafe or harmful behaviour, including substance abuse or sexual misconduct.
